Time for the Monday Muse again! Check it out: There’s a great jQuery slideshow at the end — done in the style of Apple (I love Mac, can you tell?) It’s easy to implement and use, and they’ve has posted a demo on the page as well.

Everyone knows Japanese Maples, right? Those bright, hot-red tress that look like a burning bush. Down the street my neighbour has one and once a year it catches fire (figuratively, of course) and lights up the yard.

Here’re nine great examples of head-on photography that highlights perspective and distance. Your eye can easily follow the line of perspective from foreground to background and back again — and there’s more detail to each than first meets the eye.

Deep space is an amazing source of inspiration. Even if you can’t exactly see them with your naked eye, you can at least bring them to your desktop one at a time and enjoy them.

Blogs look very nice with a flashy image above each post on the index page. The problem is when a WordPress theme comes configured like this you have to use complicated pre-coded Custom Fields in each post or go without the image altogether. There’s no allowing for those times when it would be so much easier to have the index page grab the first image in the post — or even for those rare times when you don’t have any image and just want a default one put up there.

While I publish a regular feature every weekend (or most weekends) with great wallpapers, every once in a while there’s one that deserves its own spot. Love in a Cage is a macro shot of a chinese lantern. It’s very dramatic.

Last week, Pixellica featured Living Statues — I ran across one more and included it in this week’s Muse; It’s the little “toy” solider a few images down. There’re some other very artistic (and time-consumign) pieces this week as well.

Trompe l’oeil, or ”Trick of the Eye”, is where realistic, real-world scenes are painted on a surface — usually a wall or door but in many of the cases Pixellica presents below even whole buildings — and sometimes they’re so real you’d walk right into them. I’ve scoured around for a couple weeks tying to find the best ones.
