Shadow puppets, or silhouette animation, originated in China during the Han Dyansty (c. AD206) and has since spread all over the globe. Shadow puppet troupes exist in over 20 countries and delight thousands of people each year. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with very primitive technology and a lot of creativity.

Shadow Puppets in Hollywood

You may remember a few years back when this short appeared at the BAFTA awards – “The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello.” Shadow Puppets made another key appearance in the closing sequence for the credits of “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”
