Shadow puppets, or silhouette animation, originated in China during the Han Dyansty (c. AD206) and has since spread all over the globe. Shadow puppet troupes exist in over 20 countries and delight thousands of people each year. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with very primitive technology and a lot of creativity.
